Building and buying a new home is a complicated thing. We know you may have questions about it, and we’re happy to talk and answer any of yours during your Autograph Homes building process. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions, which we’ll update if we become aware of other common questions needing answers.

Many factors affect build times—including permit requirements, third party plan approvals, weather, material and contractor availability, and municipal requirements—but we plan on six to ten months from contract to completion. These factors may influence the overall time frame to build your new Autograph home, but a timely start sets the tone. While we obtain permits and third-party approvals, create purchase orders, and complete prestart processes, we also rely on you to do your part and adhere to all timelines. These timelines include finalizing all aspects of your earnest money contract, completing your ABC Agreement, and paying all deposits necessary for approval.

Each community offers a variety of lots to choose from to build your new home. Your sales counselor will help to guide you through the lot selection process.

You can choose from a variety of structural and exterior elevation options that are unique to each floor plan!

Your sales counselor will assist you in completing your Earnest Money Contract and all other sales documents. Then over the next 14 days we ask you to finalize all personal selections and options. Once your choices are finalized and your deposits are paid, our purchasing team begins the permitting and plan approval processes. We’ll contact you a few weeks later to schedule your Fall In Love meeting with the Construction team!

Quick move-in homes are already complete or under construction. These homes allow you to close sooner and start enjoying your new home.

Yes, Autograph offers a ten-year structural, two-year mechanical, and one-year workmanship warranty, through StrucSure for additional peace of mind.

We divide the building process into thirteen stages. Each stage varies in the time needed to complete. Before starting construction of your new home, we’ll provide a list of these stages. Along the way, we’ll schedule a couple of meetings with you to discuss progress and what comes next.

That’s easy—your sales counselor is your primary contact throughout the building process. Having one single contact helps ensure effective communication!

Once you sign the closing documents and the loan funds, we’ll give you the keys! If the loan is with our preferred lender, then we’ll provide the keys immediately.

We’ll contact you approximately 30 days before your home is complete and schedule a preliminary home orientation and preliminary closing date. This is the time to verify that all loan conditions have been satisfied, you’ve secured your homeowner’s insurance, set up utilities, and completed any other move-in related items. We’ll provide a checklist that offers helpful reminders of closing tasks. A few days prior to closing, you’ll get your closing documents for review.

We’ll provide your Realtor with a copy of your Earnest Money Contract and other relevant documents. Additionally, we’ll share the same construction progress updates provided to you. It isn’t required, but your Realtor is welcome to accompany you to the closing.

We offer a multitude of professionally curated design packages and personalized options to choose from during your selection process, along with a variety of exterior choices: all to allow you to make your home your own!

We sometimes offer incentives through our preferred lenders that can be used to lower mortgage rates, pay for that special upgrade you want, or help with closing costs. However, these incentives vary by community, so we cannot always guarantee their availability.
